Flashmob London

I read about Flashmobs and thought what a crazy but brilliant idea. A Flashmob is where an apparently inexplicable mob of people gather for a few minutes, something occurs and then they disperse. To the general public these events must appear absurd! To the participants they are brilliant fun.

The participants, who don't know each other and have never met before, get instructions on where to meet and when they are there they then get a further set of detailed instructions for the mob event, start time, place, precept, actions, dialog, end time. and thats it. You don't meet up afterwards you just leave and go your separate way. Imagine getting instructions to go to Picadilly Circus and at 18:11 hold a shoe in the air above your head until 18:17. You go - everything looks normal and you think that you are going to look like a right idiot and then suddenly loads of people just stop and hold a shoe up in the air. That's a flash mob!

The first London Mob is to be on the 7th August and I can't wait to take part.

Watch this space for further developments!

We thought you should hear about about another UK mob. We're the.mob_stirs, Birmingham's first smart mob group. The site was launched yesterday and we have a Yahoo group subscription system. Pass the word on if you know anybody in the Midlands who might be interested. We need members so we can organise our first mob!

Simon - good luck with the London flash mob. Last time I looked, they had 92 registered members on their Yahoo Group, and their geocities website had exceeded its bandwidth allocation this morning, though it's back up now.

In other words, this will be huge.

We are arranging the first ever cyber flash mob - the E-Mob. Come to http://www.deadpetsovernight.com/emob.html to find out more! we want 10,000 people to sign up for it, as it will be a little different to the real world flash mobs! We will not be stopping any sites from working, the whole thing is without agenda, commercial or otherwise, but will be leaving a lasting impression that we hope will go down in history. This is a world wide effort, join in, have fun! Thanks for reading!
