Hollywood propaganda and shoes
Hollywood are bringing out a set of trailers to be shown in cinemas to combat file sharing of movies. The trailers show the human plight and suffering in the industry caused by file sharing movies - the carpenters and stagehands who's children go without shoes.
What a pathetic campaign!
Firstly the file sharing community will not be in the cinema to view the trailers, as they will be at home watching their illegal films.
Secondly how come the studio staff are suffering? They get paid per hour not in profit share - which is the domain of the producers, stars and shareholders. Are film star wages dropping? Are movie mogul salaries dropping?
Thirdly they are transparently protecting their market with emotional blackmail which is abhorrent but not surprising from the industry that twists original stories to ensure the Middle America audience get their exactly what they expect. People actually think that war is glorious and that Robin Hood wore tights.
The root question is why do people file share movies - is it because its cheaper than shelling out £19 for a DVD? That would be £19 that they may be spending on shoes for their kids…
Seems to me that Hollywood is finding times tough - its not because of file sharing it’s because of the amount of bad films, especially sequels, being made - people are finding other things to spend their money on - like shoes. Hollywood like any other industry does not like to see profits fall and is reacting in a way that may alienate itself even further from reality.
Footnote: I have never downloaded a movie or even seen one that has been – and I go to the cinema quite often.
