England win the World Cup!
What can I say! The greatest sporting event of my life - yes better than that soccer event in '66. England have beaten Australia to win the 2003 Rugby World Cup. I watched the game in the Clubhouse of Shirley Wanderers RFC which was packed and the atmosphere was amazing. There was even a bloke there wearing a Wallabies shirt (admittedley he was Irish and not an Aussie!) It was the most breath taking peice of sport I think I have ever seen - if you wrote it as a screen play it would be laughed at for being unrealistic! Martin Johnson and the boys have done this land proud. And wasn't it good to see all the fans getting on well with each other instead of fighting? Rugby is a proper sport for everyone.
It could be that Swing Low makes it to number one in the pop charts for Christmas - that will upset the ardent soccer fans but at least they will know what the other side of the coin is like for once.
At last the Web Ellis Trophy comes to England!

Simon,
Long time no browse. Your site is looking good.I am responding to this particular article as I wipe a tear from my eye at the sad, but, I feel, inevitable decision of Martin Johnson to stand down as the Greatest Living Englishman and all round good egg. English rugby will go on with out him and the only people that can be happy at that are his wife, his daughter and every rugby player who has pulled on the opposition colours!
I have an additional motive for getting in touch. The Presidium Council of the Politbureau of the Players Republic of Croydon RFC (Formerly known as the Kingdom of Shirley Wanderers) have given me an onerous task. The burden that they have laid upon my shoulders is to seek the truth about the fabled world of the CRFC website. The road to enlightenment is rocky and strewn with pitfalls and mantraps. The shattered bodies and tortured minds of those who have gone before, only to meet with disaster, twist gently in the wind of ignorance. Therefore I propose that we meet down the pub one evening so you can bring me up to speed and I can offer any help that the club might provide! Never mind twist in the wind let's get pissed in the Croham!
You can contact me at the above or Pete will have my number. Hope to speak soon.
regards
Kings
