Shooting at Royal Berkshire Shooting School
A bunch of us went to the Royal Berkshire Shooting School for a morning of learning how to shoot stuff. I have not held a shotgun since I was 13 when my great Uncle and used to hunt the woods and fields in South East Kent. I only ever fired a shotgun on those trips a few times and only ever hit trees. My great uncle only ever shot what he was going to eat. I digres!
The RBSS was great fun with expert tuition and a real variety of traps to shoot from. They don't do the Olympic sport type Clay shooting, skeet and trap but they simulate hunting conditions where you have birds (the clays) coming over bushes towards you, away from you, across the sky, and rabbits (the clays rolling very fast sideways) running past.
I turned out to be the best individual shot, which was a bit of a surprise for me and my team (of two) won the overall competition we had. That ended with a flush with both of us shooting together at 33 clays over a couple of minutes. The first and last were orange and worth 20 points with the remainder being black and worth one point each. So it was important to hit both oranges - which we did. I even hit two clays with one shot at one point! Brilliant fun!
Not cheap but recommended.
