St Georges day public holiday

I have had a rant before about the lack of support in this country for St Georges Day (for the foreigners it's April 23rd) and Google.co.uk eventually realised its mistake - in no small part because of my campaign probably (probably not!).

This year though the brewer Charles Wells has put together a campaign to try and get St Georges day made into a UK public holiday! Hurrah! I am fully behind them on this one - (ahem, free beer would be gratefully received for the advertising).

I therefore urge all you good readers to pop over to the Bombardier website and sign the petition. As I write there are 91337 signatures - please add yours and reply to the email it sends to get the vote counted. Go here to vote.

St Georges day should be a UK Public Holiday and I like most good stout hearted loyal Englishmen would quite happily drop one of our other public holidays in favour of one on April 23rd to support our patron Saint. Yes England is a multi cultural society - and St George is our multi cultural patron Saint.

I did note that on the petition Adam Tasker was the first to vote on 1st Jan 15:30 - that is page 4155 if you can be bothered to click previous enough times. Interestingly Barbara Dickinson, 3rd to vote, has had her name censored to 'Barbara d**kinson'.

Hi, I came across your blog when writing about plans to oust St George as the patron saint of England and replace him with St Edmund. Your link is added on my page, thought you mgiht be interested. I'm not sure if people care enough saints, or even if the Government does.
