Ivor the engine DVD

At the end of May I had a sudden moment where I wanted to see Ivor the Engine again - an Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin Smallfilms production - my favourite animation house.

So I had a look on Amazon and to my amazement a DVD of all the episodes was released on 4th April 2005. So I put an order in. And nothing came. I realised today that my order was not with Amazon themselves but a associate and when I visited their page today it now states that the DVD is out of stock and they are recommending buying second hand. Already? Did the producers seriously underestimate how many would sell? Well if there were that many sold then there will be a shed load on ebay.co.uk so I 'pishtichucked' over to ebay - but nothing nada, not a peep - or poop poop.

What has happened to all the Ivor DVD's?

Update!

I had a look on sendit.com - used to be blackstar.co.uk - and found the following info:

Ivor The Engine - The Complete Ivor The Engine (Animated) (DVD)

Actually they did practically immediately! A most pleasant surprise!

We got a copy of this DVD & just discovered today that it appears to be missing about an hour of content. Perhaps that's why it was pulled?

The packaging claims that the runtime is 3 hours 8 minutes, but the DVD player reports a runtime of only 2 hours 6 minutes. Checking the track listing on smallfilms.co.uk suggests that there are definitely a number of episodes missing.

Our toddler doesn't care though :)

Oliver Postgate ordered the withdrawal of the original DVD of Ivor the Engine because the producers had omitted several items. Since then the DVD complete has been republished and, as far as we know, is available again in shops and on the Net. Oliver was delighted to hear about your enthusiasm for his work, and sends his best wishes.

I have just done a quick search on the internet and have found a number of DVD outlets selling the Ivor DVD - there appears to be two versions still easily available, a turquoise blue-ish colour cover and a yellow colour cover. My guess is one is the old incorrect release and the other the republished release? Does anyone one know which one we should go for all the episodes (i.e. is the full 40 episodes and not just the shorter 24 episodes), as the descriptions often seem the same! Thanks.
