Facebook deactivated

I have just deactivated my Facebook account having read that Microsoft is buying into the phenomenon with a $240 million stake giving them a 6% share. Microsoft are desperate to get into the Social networking side of the web as they think they are missing out commercially but the whole point about social networks is that they are mostly transitionary. Very few people have the same set of friends their whole life and things change and that's the same with social networks. Microsofts involvement will mean that things will not evolve naturally on Facebook but rather in a Microsoft encouraged way. A 6% stake is not controlling but they will have got their hooks in and they will be steering in some way back there.

My change right now is that I have deactivated my Facebook account.
