4 years of spam filtering
It's just about coming up to four years of spam filtering for the majority of my email accounts. I pay for a service called BopSpam without which I might be in big trouble!
Here are my stats for filtered email since April 2004:
- Count: 55,779 (19%)
- Size: 1437MB
- Spam
- Count: 236,361 (80.9%)
- Size: 1534MB
- Virus
- Count: 3
- Size: 1MB
- Total
- Count: 292,143
- Size: 2972MB
- Spam Analysis
- Caught: 235,565 (99.66%)
- Missed: 796 (0.3%)
- False Positives: 117 (0.2%)
Its a huge amount of spam and I think the majority of it is thanks to slack email address protection for in my registered domain details by Ecom as some of the accounts I never use for email and the email addresses don't appear anywhere but on the domain details. Other registrars take great steps to protect the email addresses from harvesting.
To prove, to myself, this I am going to set up some odd email addresses for some of the domains and see what happens. Let you all know later in an update but for now you might want to consider what you use for your domain registration email address - perhaps setting up a gmail account for them would be a good idea as Google mail has good spam filtering.
