John Lewis in Croydon

Strong local rumour has it that John Lewis will be moving into the Allders department store site in Croydon by Easter. Minerva, who are redeveloping the St Georges walk area with John Lewis as the flagship store will not have the site ready for at least four years so John Lewis may be moving into the Allders headquarters, and the biggest department store in the UK, to give themselves exposure to Croydon and at the same time prevent rivals gaining 4 years of growth before they can move into Croydon.

This is great news for local shoppers and along with the new Central development will make Croydon one of the most attractive places to shop in the South part of Greater London.

John Lewis recently admitted that they were looking at Croydon to expand their presence in South London.
